Does
your program help girls get into the modeling business?
Yes. I have been a professional model for over 25 years and I am
currently with a Boston Agency. I have made many great connections
and can recommend photographers and modeling agencies that won’t
give you the runaround or waste your money. Many of my students
have gone on to model successfully in the Boston market and are
enjoying the fun and excitement of the modeling industry.
How much pressure does your program put on girls to be thin?
None. My program is specifically designed to help young girls fight
the pressure of the media’s obsession with weight. Our classes
in Nutrition and Exercise emphasize that healthy weight and body
satisfaction can be successfully achieved by making proper nutrition
and regular exercise a life-style choice. We explore the pitfalls
of yo-yo dieting and discuss the alarming increase of eating disorders
among adolescent girls. It is our hope to give the girls as much
awareness of the “healthy” options available to them
so they will make the right choices for themselves.
My
daughter is extremely shy. Will your program help her to be more
comfortable in social situations?
Yes. The mere fact that she is enrolled in a class with other young
girls from all over the South Shore is a jump-start to overcoming
her shyness. The atmosphere at Fashion Focus is a nurturing and
accepting one. Every girl is made to feel special and no one is
ignored. Group activities are encouraged and students are expected
to treat each other with respect and kindness.
How
many girls are in each class?
Class size is kept to no more than 10 girls so the atmosphere of
learning and interacting is less intimidating. Smaller class size
enables us to get to know each student individually and for the
girls to get to know each other as well.
Do
you offer any classes for boys?
Upon special request we provide semi-private or private lessons
for boys. The most requested classes are Manners and Public Image,
Social Situations, Social Skills and Good Grooming.
